Warehouse manager

Purpose and background

Senior leadership and direction of warehouse and facilities staff in meeting the needs of the business

  • Daily leadership of warehouse and facilities employees in the execution of order picking and packaging schedule.
  • Work as part of Senior Leadership team to deliver business plans for development and growth. Including new product launches and product transfer.
  • Ensuring all warehouse activity is carried out in a safe and compliant manner working closely with Level 2 Prevention Advisor.
  • To ensure compliance to the “Code of Well-being at work”, Council Directive 89/391/EEC 12th June 1989.

Warehouse Management

  • Produce weekly staff rota for all warehouse areas and cascade in weekly briefing with team.
  • Approval and management of staff holiday requests maintaining required levels of resource to achieve production schedules.
  • Manage staff attendance issues proactively following HR Policies and procedures to support staff welfare and attendance levels >98%.
  • Carry out monthly staff 121 meetings to facilitate positive feedback and discuss areas for development.
  • Develop and maintain Planned Preventative Maintenance programme for equipment and facility.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the operation of all equipment and processes. Ensure all staff are trained and compliant with SOPs.
  • Ensure warehouse operations are compliant with good warehouse practices.
  • Develop warehouse KPIs, track and publish to create a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Participate in Regulatory and Customer audits by hosting tours of the facility and providing information and overviews as required.
  • Lead a culture of continuous quality improvement by constant monitoring and review of ‘Events’, ‘Deviations’ and ‘Customer Complaints.’
  • Investigate Customer Complaints putting in place corrective and preventative actions.
  • To lead, develop and promote the change management system within warehouse including any validation requirements arising from a change.
  • To alert the Senior Management of any quality critical issues in relation to product quality, health and safety or environmental controls.

Business Management

  • To review and monitor regularly top line operational performance and general business issues in conjunction with the other Senior Managers.
  • To continuously develop departmental systems to gain efficiency improvements and best use of resources.
  • As part of the senior management team, proactively review existing company policies and develop new ones to meet the needs of the business.
  • To ensure an effective communication cascade is established and maintained for all levels of information to be disseminated throughout the production team.
  • To develop and maintain a staffing plan and effectively plan recruitment and working hours to avoid short staffed situations.
  • To prepare and manage warehouse budget and spending. Carry out monthly review with finance controllers and take necessary action to ensure budgets are maintained and controlled.
  • To translate a new business opportunity into an active project subject to General Manager approval.
  • To proactively support the Pelsis Operation by helping in other departments which may be busier than your own at a particular time.

  • Manage and develop promotional plans, materials and support the sales team with requests.
  • Plan and execute a communication plan and digital strategy with local agencies
  • Create briefs for the graphic design team and review product packaging
  • Plan and execute new product launches and reviews and liaise with product/brand managers to identify product development opportunities
  • Prepare marketing and sales data reports
  • Keep track of competition and market evolution
  • Assist other projects as required
